The revenge of SM ugly duklings

The Untouchable SM with their sea of pretty faces. It is widely knows that their main criteria when choosing group members or artists in general is that looks are extremely important to them. But there are always exceptions.

I do not buy into the popular belief that all the people coming out of SM are gorgeous human beings. Several of them are just not all that. And there are several examples of this. However it is always nice to see girls who have been overlooked for so long being more and more appreciated by the general public.

Here are some girls who I think have overcome their ugly-duckling syndrome and have finally seen the spring in their lives :D

SNSD - Hyoyeon

Probably from the get go Hyeoeon was the most overlooked member in all of SNSD. Although possessing a charming fun personality, her looks were not noticed or as highly regarded as any of the other girls in the group. Her height wasn't the best, and if she had a cute look like Sunny's at the very least, she could have pulled in more fans. However her looks were always not so popular with Korean fans (Although she had quite a few international fans).

For a long time she was the ugly duckling of SNSD. Although she hasn't isn't the most good looking member I always liked her personality so I truly wish that her popularity would increase. This girl was funny and easy going and I always feel for the not-so-popular girl in a group (Probably my own liking for underdogs).

Fast Forward to 2013 and you can see a shift in her looks. I'm going to say that the main features that seems to have changed in her are her brows, weight and nose, Some are saying that she has had lots of plastic surgery but I disagree. I think it is mainly a different styling from hair, clothes and make-up. Her brows have become more Korean-like with the ever so popular straight/thick eyebrows.


You go girl. You keep looking better and better every year. Go get those fans and those solo pictorials :)

FX - Luna

I think the biggest jaw-dropping transformation has been that of Luna from F(x). She went from being totally rough, dark, thick looking paired with the worst hair color ever to actually really good looking.

I think her diet has impacted her new look the most. I know most people think that she has undergone plastic surgery all over her face but I think the most dramatic changes have definitely come from her drastic lost of weight. Perhaps some procedures have happened like Botox, or other injections but I don't think there is any other major procedures to her. Her legs might be a different story as like many people have mentioned, even with weight lost, its very hard to lose muscles in your legs. I guess in Korea there are shots that have become popular for leg muscles (Even Sulli was accused of using it) and if any procedures have been done on Luna, then these shots are most likely true.

Maybe I'm just not good at detecting plastic surgery, but I've always felt that when plastic surgery has been done in a lot of areas in one's face it's obvious and end up looking unnatural (Park Bom, Boram, Seo Woo). 

Her styling and choice of hair color has definitely improved as well and this has elevated her look.

I'm glad that she is gaining positive attention since the girl is talented and seems very sweet, so good going girl.








I think the good transformation brings hope to other ugly-duckling hopefuls.

Oh one of my favorite boy bands. They have achieved legendary status by now.
I started like them for 2 things their music and baby-faced G-dragon :*

With this piece of information, I think one can say I am biased in this list.

 Why? Oh poor soul. He is not the most good-looking face
even when compared to the average guy walking on the street.

So when you take into consideration
that he is in one of the most iconic boy groups in K-Pop,
one cannot help but wonder How?

He is talented and funny,
so my best guess can only be that
this is what pulled him ahead of the other 
hopeful trainees in YG.

Why? He a’right. He is not ugly nor handsome.
He is not the sexiest or the cutest.
But he definitely has his good days and looks ok within the group.

He is neither this or that, and in all honesty I don’t care for his personality all that much.
But hey at least he looks better than Daesung (Sorry man).

(Short Sexy Beast)

Why? He is the sexy beast of Big Bang. There I said it. He is sexayyyy. 
From his eyes to his voice, and his muscles
(Not too buff but defined enough to make me want to grab him and rip his shirt off) 
whooo, Is it getting hot in here or what? :D

The thing that brings him down in term of looks is his height
(Which unfortunately isn’t fixable)
and his very questionable styling choices 
(google Taeyang airport fashion).

Boy sure is hot though so number 3 it is.

Why? Oh Top. I just think he has the cutest face. He just makes me want to hug him.
Plus his raspy voice and awesome rapping makes me weak in the knees.

He is a very charismatic member and the mystery around
his image is quite alluring if I say so myself.

(Baby-faced Leader)

Why? The leader, the fashion diva, the song-writer.
Everything about G-Dragon screams number 1.
He is unique, cute, charismatic, irresistible.

He is just the undeniable winner of this whole ranking.
G-dragon’s face goes good with anything. 
Clothes, hairdos, haircolors. Granted some are not as good as others
but he still pulls them off way better than almost anyone else I can think of.

Thanks for giving me so many nights filled with dreams about you.
(In those dreams I'm always the main girl in all your music videos, yay :D)

Yoona - The Enigma of the Legendary Korea's "Ideal" Girl

Now this is not really about her character, but mostly about her appearance. There have been so many times I've heard that she is The Face of SNSD,
that she is Korea's top girl-group member, that she is a goddess Blah Blahhh Blahhhh

But I just don't get the hype.

Let's analyze this Yoona phenomenon a little more:

1) Face- Oh Yoona, first time I saw her I could just think 'ehhh whatever' I was taken aback by the number of people who praised her face to the point of calling her a goddess or what not.

Her face reminds me of a light bulb or of the 'scream' painting.

She is (For me!) the most plain over-hyped face in the industry. There are so many other prettier girls who have never even put close to the pedestal Yoona seems to have gotten away with.



2) Body - Yoona's body sigh I feel like I'm looking at an eel's body. Zero sex appeal.

I guess I can see why girls would think that she has a 'perfect' body, simply because girls seem to have an obsession with skinny bodies due to their resemblance to top fashion models (And the fact that all clothes fit). But I can't imagine any guys finding her body close to attractive or desirable.






3) Personality - What a boring girl in all honesty. She is sweet but she hasn't really ever said or done anything close to interesting from what I've observed. Granted (As you can probably guess) I am not a SONE by any means, so I haven't watched all shows that she is in, but I have watched my fair share of them. And she is not entertaining or funny -_- She is nice but just not super funny by far :/

4) X-Factor - I could explain this as charisma or as that little something extra which makes you different, special or unique. Many artists have it, which is why people feel attracted to them. Sometimes for no apparent reason.  But Yoona is as vanilla as saltine crackers. I simply don't quite get what would make her special to some. She is just there. A wallflower.  Nothing wrong with that, and perhaps if she wasn't ass over-hyped as she is, I would give her a little more slack for her lack of talent.



5) Talent - I've always been very skeptical with the girls from SNSD's talents. I know they all have pretty synchronized choreographies, but then again it's not like they are the ones coming up with them. And the moves are not specially hard to achieve individually. Even Hyoyeon who is 'the' dancer in the group seems to be lacking a natural flow to her (Might just be because she is so short and her shows don't showcase as prettily :/ or might be something else. Who knows). Artists or public figures have a special talent that makes the public look at them. Even people like Hyuna who brings a sexy appeal even if it's not truly artistic dance routines or Minzy who brings a swag not seen before do offer something different to the table of K-Pop. Yoona is far from being the best singer, dancer or most outgoing or funny. Oh Yoona, you are so lucky to have all these guys saying you are their ideal girl -___-



I truly do not hate Yoona. But I would be lying if I said I loved her. She is just whatever. The only reason I'm making this post is because in my opinion she is so average looking that I still don't understand the obsession with naming her Korea's 'ideal girl". All I wanna know is what is it about her that you like so much? Real hard-core fans of Yoona, what is it that attracts you the most and makes her different from other idols in your opinion?

Maybe I will feel inspired by your responses.

SISTAR 'Best Face' Ranking

Oh man, where to start with this one?

It' not secret that SISTAR is not a visual group. But I was never bothered by it.

Their songs are awesome, and for a girl-group, honestly what else can I ask for?

None of them really win in the face dept if we are comparing them to others girl group members. But we can't have it al-l right ladies ? :/ Oh well at least you guys are talented (Or at least one of you is - Ohhhh no I didn't :p )

Why? Because I know a lot of people in Korea would choose her 

as the prettiest mainly because of her pale skin (c'mon Koreans -_-). 

But she ain't all that. 

Her face is a bit off to me. 

Her chin is not existent and her eyes seem to be bulging out a bit. 

Sometimes it seems like her lips are a little frozen

and sticking out for no reason. 

Oh well at least she seems......like a...........n OK actress.

 Why? You know, I just realized this girl is not photogenic :/

I was seriously considering just replacing 

her with Dasom due to a serious lack of good Soyou pics.

her body is definitely better than Dasom and her face is more proportionate

Personality wise - I'm not sure.

I don't really follow  their news that closely at all

2PM

For this week's looks chart, I will be doing 2PM (--That's what she said--)

I'm going for JYP's biggest male idol group to date, but I must admit they are not my favorite looking group.

Don't know why, but after Jay's departure, I lost my interest in them.

But musically speaking, I still think JYP does a good job with their songs.

I actually like their songs much better than most other idol groups, and have a couple of them as my favorite kpop songs of all time.

But even when the group had my attention, I was never particular fond of their appearance.

I'm not into buffy, muscular, beast-idols type sooooo yeah....


Well, for this list I will be including all 7 members (Yes, including JP)

So bring on the hotness beasty-idols :p

Number 7

Junho 

His eyes are so not visible lol

I will not say that I dislike smiling eyes, becasue I think they can look quite good 
on some people

The thing is that with Junho, it's like he has two little lines 
in place of normal eyes.

His singing on the other hand is way better than the other members so he shouldn't feel bad for the lack of looks

Junsu (Or Jun K. ...Junk!)

He is very average to me. There's nothing that really

 stands out to me about him. 

His lips are kind of stretched out and big for the size of his face, and his eyes look weird to me for some reason. 

But I still think he is better looking than Junho

even if it's just by a tiny bit

Chansung

 

I'm not quite sure if it's fair that he is ahead of the other two.

But he is tall and has a slender body. And although his face does not

have the best features, he still carries the maknae card 

and wins on youth points

Number 4

 

Taecyeon

His face is not the best looking face out there, actually his face looks so much older than his actual age and that is not sexy...

But still he has his charm, and there's something in there that makes him

very attractive. I can't quite say what it is but it definitely is working to his advantage

 because although he doesn't have the best looking face he still has the most fans in the nuna category :)

Number 3

Wooyoung

I adore silly Wooyoung. I find him very cute in general. 

He has a boyish face, and although not super tall, he is tall enough to pull off any outfits.

Plus he looks good on almost every hairstyle, which I've come to

learn, doesn't happen that often with idols. 

Number 2

Jay Park

 

He is a hot hot piece of ass. His face is cute and childish. 

His muscles make feel like butter under the sun >_< 

And that's saying a lot knowing that I'm not into big muscles at all. 

His only downfall is his shortness 

:/ But you know, a guy can't have everything :/

 But the combination of all his features just go so well together

 that naturally he is number 2 :D

Although he is number 2. He is number one on almost everything else. 

He was the leader of the group for a reason. 

He is the best dancer, his rapping is awesome and he is funny as hell. 

Overall the whole package. Too bad he had to leave (or asked to leave....who knows) 2pm. 

I think I would like them a little more if he was still in the group

Nickhum

 

Thai-Prince, Nickhum. I think anyone with eyes can see why he is number 1 as well as why all the girls are crazy about him. He is quite good looking. 

I must admit that when I first saw their pictures he stuck out of the crowd right away. 

He was the only one who looked like an idol from the get-go. He looks quite innocent at first glance but I think he definitely has a kinky side ;)

But even though this list is based on looks (and I admit he is the best looking 2PM member 

up to this day) he is one of my least favorite members 

when it comes to everything else. 

I think he barely sings, his Korean is still very very awkward,

even though he is been in Korea since forever, 
and his variety skills are just so painful to watch. 

He tries to go for the good boy type but to me he just looks like an out-of-place boy on 
almost every show he appears on.

But still the Best-looking member title 

won't be snatched away from him any time soon :)

Hyuna is just ughh -_-

I hate Hyuna. 

Ok, maybe hating is kind of a strong word, but I really, really dislike her.

I think she is one of the only celebrities I really don't like. Hyuna fans are always saying that if someone hates her, it's because we are jealous, and because she is sexy and hangs out with an idol we like.

First of all if that was true we would hate almost all women celebrities, because for the most part they are way better looking than the average girl.

I don't hate sexy singers or celebrities because I'm afraid they are going to steal my imaginary boyfriend. In fact some of my all time favorite Korean celebrities are on the sexy side: Hyori, Hwang Bo, Gain. But I also like cute girls: Suzy, Hyosung, Lizzy, IU. But I can't stand Hyuna. Mainly, but not exclusively, because she has one of the most annoying personalities ever.

There are too many things I dislike about Hyuna for me to list, but I'll try to put some in perspective here.

First: Her split celebrity personality
If you want to be sexy, then be sexy. If you want to act cute then by all mean do so
But why does she have to act so different on stage and in real life. I just don't understand how her personality can be so opposite from each other. I think we can see this split personality disorder she has on her BubblePop music video. First she shakes her ass while her buttceeks are eating her shorts, and rubs herself against a guy's junk...

 

 

And then tries to act all cute while she purses her lips and says things like **Miaow** (please let me go throw up)

Second: Her Whiny voice
I can't stand the sound of her voice. Even thinking about it makes me mad! It's like someone scratching a blackboard. It makes me want to beat someone up. It's seriously the most irritable voice I've ever heard. The worst part is that she probably thinks it's cute so she fakes that stupid-ass voice all the time.

(I wanted to find another video of her just talking but I'm too lazy to 

spend my time for something that will just annoy me)

Why does she have to talk like that? Makes my ears bleed everytime I hear her talk

Third: Her no-chin face

Fourth: The other members don't get a chance to promote
If I was one of her members I would hate her guts because the only reason she is getting chosen to do solos is because she open her legs up for the guys to fap.People even call her group Hyuna and her back-up dancers. I'm not a 4minute fan but, I feel bad for the other girls in the group.

Fifth: Her fans
I'm sick and tired to hear her fans moaning and bitching about how her agency is trying to sex her up. And that her sexyness is not really coming from her but from her evil managers.

Just accept that she is a whore who has put that sexy image on herself since day one. Even from when she was still a part of the Wonder Girls, she was putting forward the sexy image with her butt dance. Back then, the Wonder Girls didn't have a sexy image, so you can't say she tried to make herself be sexy for the sake of the concept given by higher ups.

Sixth: Her lack of talent
She can't sing. She can't even rap. She demonstrated she can't dance (And no, spreading your legs apart and opening your mouth does not mean you can dance!!), go watch her dreadful dancing in dancing with the stars. She is not funny. She doesn't write music. She can't act, and to make it short she doesn't have anything that makes her special or likable. The only thing she has going on for her is that she doesn't lose the opportunity to stick her butt up or spread her legs apart so guys can do what they do best.

Yes, I know they are not known as the most beautiful girls in Korea. But I can still make a list about who I think is the 'better looking' face from them four.

Why? Her eyes are not her best feature. I blame them for her not so-beautiful face. Everything else in her face is just fine. Not gorgeous but they are okay.

Her eyes though make her look really really cross-eyed. I'm not sure if she's actually a little cross-eyed, or if that's just an optical illusion because of her eyes shape, or because she kind of poses like that. The thing is she does look cross-eyed (At least to me she does).

That's why I think she looks best with sunglasses on. Her face is actually small and her lips look quite cute. CL is the fiercest in 2NE1 and she sure makes a badass leader, it's just that her face doesn't look the best.

Minzy (Hate you)

Why? Well, Minzy is a very strange creature in my book. She is the maknae of the group but when 2NE1 made their debut I seriously thought she was the oldest O_O
That's saying a lot. She can look young at times (Like the picture above) but she looks older than her age most of the time. She is the best dancer in the group but she tends to look a little fat. I think she is naturally thick because from what I've seen she works out more than any of the other members but her build still looks the same.

When she uses her "bad girl" face she looks kind of black too. I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me tomorrow that her great great grandfather was black. Of course, she looks more Korean but there seems to be a hint of blackness in her.

IDK maybe I'm just imagining things because she has a big butt 
and can dance >_<

  Park Bom ( It hurts :\ Appa Appa Appaaa)

Why? Park Bom looks plastic. She looks scary plastic.
If I was teaching future plastic surgeons on things to not do, I'd show them a picture of Park Bom. I don't know what the hell she has done (or not done) to her face. but she looks way way worse every time 2NE1 makes a comeback. Her face is completely frozen!!!!

She can barely even move her lips anymore. Her eyes look so swollen as if she could barely keep them open anymore and her nose keeps on shrinking. I don't care what any 2NE1 fan says, this girl has had something done to her. The illness that she claims to have wouldn't make her nose magically get smaller and smaller.

**Sigh......   But why is she is 2nd place then, you ask. 

Well, Park Bom was one of the cutest members when they first debuted. Even though her face was on the round side, she still look pretty. Her long brown hair made her look like a doll. And her long legs were and still are her best feature. She could have been in the last place on this list but because
she was so pretty once I put her on 2nd place instead. It is my own personal opinion so stuff it if you don't like it.

Sandara Park (I'm the Best)

Why? She is undeniable cute. Everyone always says she doesn't seem to age. And I have to agree on that claim. If anything, she looks even younger than when she worked in the Philippines.

I think that last part is probably because of makeup techniques. Filipinos make up techniques suck ass. Most of their celebrities look like extras from low-budget productions. So once in Korea, Dara was able to have real make-up artists make her look even more beautiful and younger than she already was. She lacks in so many aspects compared to the other three, but she is by far the cutest and most natural-looking member from 2NE1. She is the only one snatching make-up campaigns for YG.

So YG should definitely be thankful to this girl for not feeding the idea that YG doesn't pick their artists because of looks. Dara is living proof that one can be an exception to that rule.
